UMA is addressing the healthcare workforce crisis by delivering career-ready training and the personalized support that adult learners need to help them be successful in urgently needed healthcare roles.
Floridians have witnessed explosive growth in our communities over the last decade. To meet the needs of so many new residents, including a large proportion of older people migrating here, Florida now has the third largest concentration of healthcare providers in the nation. But like the rest of the country, we still face significant staff shortages in our hospitals, outpatient centers, rehabilitation facilities and home health services.
In fact, the U.S. Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) has identified Florida as one of the states with the most severe future healthcare workforce shortages. The deepest, least-recognized, shortage of healthcare workers in America goes beyond doctors or nurses – it is allied health positions, the essential staff who can check your vital signs, take blood samples, prepare your medication, assist with managing your healthcare bills or drive the ambulance to the hospital.
Although just retaining current staffing levels is proving to be a challenge for many healthcare providers, the demand for allied healthcare professionals in Florida continues to grow. FloridaCommerce projects many allied healthcare professions will be among the fastest growing in Florida through 2032.
As a non-profit educator, Ultimate Medical Academy is taking an industry-responsive approach to help meet this dire need. We are broadening our initiatives, building dynamic new partnerships and enhancing our campuses to welcome the next wave of healthcare professionals.
