Stabilized Steps, a Naples company that develops and makes stabilizers that attach to the bottom of walkers, won $25,000 after winning a “shark-tank”-style competition among 42 Southwest Florida startups.
Stephanie Gomez, Stabilized Steps’ co-founder, president and CEO, expects to use the money from Adrenaline Venture Fund for marketing. She says the stabilizers — essentially nylon pads — are intended to give users more stability and better traction when walking indoors as well as on outdoor surfaces with gravel, mud, sand and snow.
Gomez is a former banking executive. Her business partner, Eryk Hardwick, a contractor, came up with the idea after a client complained of not being able to go to the beach because of mobility issues.
Stabilized Steps' allows for more stability and better traction.
