Miramar: The Crossroads for Florida, the Americas and the World

For companies looking for a city they can grow with, Miramar exemplifies a partner positioned at the crossroads of regional and hemispheric trade.

Incorporated in 1955 as a bedroom community to Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Miramar today is a thriving live/work/play destination ideally suited to any growing business. The city’s population has almost tripled in the past 20 years driven by a progressive approach to vital infrastructure projects and a spirit of partnership with its corporate community.

When Interstate 75 opened in 1993, it transected the city’s western reaches and linked the city to regional logistics and business centers. Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport each are less than a 30-minute drive. Port Everglades, PortMiami and the Port of Palm Beach gave shippers access to critical trade routes. Downtown destinations across Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties are close at hand.

For some 180 domestic and international employers, the Miramar Park of Commerce is a leading logistics and commerce park with five million square feet of office/service, laboratory, pharmacy, light manufacturing and distribution space.

Miramar is investing $100 million in infrastructure improvements of its own. From city-wide Smart City and 5G installations, a new LEED Gold Certified police headquarters and substation, and a new water treatment plant, each will enhance Miramar’s role as the only municipality to receive the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Economic Development Partner of the Year.

Bountiful jobs in the western suburbs continue to attract new residents, making Miramar among the state’s fastest-growing and safest cities. Families find high-performing schools, including Everglades High School and its Cambridge Academy and Miramar High School’s International Baccalaureate program.

High school grads can choose from colleges and universities, like the joint-use Broward College and Florida International University campus, Nova Southeastern University, Strayer University, Chamberlain University and Florida Vocational Institute.

Family time comes alive at the city’s Arts & Entertainment District, with the Miramar Cultural Center|ArtsPark, the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater, and the Ansin Sports Complex.

“Why Miramar? CEOs looking to the next 20 to 30 years know they have a business partner making key investments to keep their company competitive and successful,” says second-term Mayor Wayne Messam, 19-year city resident, father and local businessman. “Whether to live, work or play, we’re redefining the role a city plays in its employers’ futures.”
