Central Florida's economic forecast for 2021

All health systems and providers will continue to see COVID-19 cases this year, though likely not as many as in 2020, Strong says. “Transitioning out of COVID, the impact providers will see is because of delayed care, including preventive … and responding to mental and behavioral health challenges.”

Strong believes patient volumes will return to normal levels, with the exception of hospital emergency department visits. But the payer mix will change. “That’ll occur because we’ll see a decrease in those with insurance, and that’s directly related, unfortunately, to layoffs and unemployment that we anticipate the region will see.
