Florida gas prices slowly coming down
While gas prices are still higher than normal across the state of Florida, the average cost for a gallon of fuel is actually going down. AAA reported Monday that average cost is now $4.18 in the state, down 20 cents over a nine-day streak of declines. "The oil market remains extremely volatile, after seeing big swings in both directions during the past few weeks," said AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins. " Fortunately, oil prices are well below the high we saw more than a week ago. This should enable gas prices to slip lower this week, unless oil suddenly spikes again." Talking about Russian wealth is 'bad for business' in South Florida
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, is keeping its lips sealed on the Russian wealth that lives there. Originally a place that attracted both tourists and immigrants fleeing communism in the Soviet Union, this pocket of Florida's Miami region saw a luxury-development boom at the turn of the century. A private astronaut training facility could be coming to Florida
Through the years, Florida's Space Coast has seen rockets built, launches, new developments and the commercialization of space. But a new endeavor could be on the horizon — a private astronaut training and human spaceflight services center. Florida Today was the first to report on the project. Florida tops 1 million recreational boats
More than 1 million recreational boats are registered in Florida, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Florida requires vessels to be registered with local tax collectors within 30 days of purchase. As the state passed the 1 million benchmark, the commission tried to highlight the importance of safety. [Source: News Service of Florida]
Biggest touring Broadway season yet set for Orlando in 2022-23
The 2022-23 touring Broadway season in Orlando will be the biggest to date, with a mix of eight classic and newer shows, including several rescheduled titles postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, which presents the series in partnership with Florida Theatrical Association and Broadway Across America, announced the new season lineup on Friday morning. President Joe Biden signed the bill earlier this week, which includes provisions to help the Ukrainian government.

In just a few weeks, Enzian will once again play host to the Florida Film Festival from April 8-17. This year’s event will be bigger than ever, screening 167 films from 37 countries. Of the films selected for inclusion at this year’s event, 145 have premiere status. “We have a lot of big firsts because we have 24 world premieres in the festival. So that’s extremely exciting, including more features than ever,” said Matthew Curtis, Florida Film Festival programming director.
