Welcome to Florida Small Business
A Message from the Governor
Dear Small Business Owner:
In Florida, we are dedicated to keeping our economy, our businesses, and our communities open and free. For those looking to start a business, Florida has the best opportunities to maximize your success. Since 2019, Florida has led the nation in new business formations and in 2021, Florida saw 114,000 more new businesses than California, even though California is nearly twice the size of Florida.
Florida’s pro-business environment, favorable tax structure, and fair regulatory approach are vital to those wanting to do business here in our great state. As Governor, my goal is to do everything possible to help our businesses of all sizes to succeed and I am proud to say we are heading on the right path. Since my administration began, I have signed legislation to eliminate barriers preventing people from entering a profession or starting a business. People who wish to join professions ranging from architecture and construction to cosmetology and the food truck industry are now able to more easily forge paths to start their own businesses, and I have fought to protect our small businesses from heavy-handed mandates that would stifle operations.
As I travel throughout Florida, I make it a point to stop at small businesses across the state and meet the business owners that contribute to our success. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities and make up 99.8% of Florida businesses. Every time I meet with business owners and their staff, I am reminded of the important work we must continue to expand support for all Floridians.
Over the past two years, our state has refused to cave to national pressure by keeping Florida’s small businesses open and supporting them in making their own business decisions. I will continue to fight each day to ensure you can pursue the great opportunities in our state.
