Despite being a Caribbean staple, many South Floridians still don’t know pikliz. Alexandra Baker is doing her best to change that.
Pikliz Spicy Pepper Relish — a version of the Haitian condiment used to spice up the cuisine of many West Indies island nations — is the star product of her boutique line of Caribbean-influenced condiments called Alexandra’s Pikliz. In other parts of the world, a somewhat similar mix is known as Curtido and Kimchi.
“You know, people are looking for globally inspired ethnic foods,” explains Baker, who runs the burgeoning brand with her husband, Troy.
