Shumaker Partner Brett M. Henson has been appointed to the Construction Industry Advisory Board (CIAB) for the Stock Development Department of Construction Management at the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering of Florida Gulf Coast University. The Stock Development Department of Construction teaches students the skills needed to manage, coordinate, and supervise construction projects from start to finish, including scheduling, budgeting, and managing materials and people.
Ben Gibson, Managing Partner of Shutts & Bowen LLP's Tallahassee office, was recently elected Chairman of the State Board of Education by his fellow Board members. “It’s truly an honor to serve as Chairman of Florida’s State Board of Education as we work to ensure that the next generation is equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed,” said Ben.
The Florida Retail Federation (FRF) announced Angela Bonds will join the team as Vice President for government affairs, effective June 5. In her new role, Angela will lead FRF’s government relations team and a team of consultants who advocate for the more than 270,000 retail businesses in Florida. Born and raised in Florida, she earned her degree at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

He's tried cases in both jury and bench trials, and his experience includes litigation in Ohio and Florida from filing of the action to trial.

HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital announced Kari Saathoff as the new Vice President of Human Resources. Saathoff joined the hospital in 2022 as the Human Resources Business Partner and helped improve the onboarding process for new caregivers and worked closely with department leaders and recruitment teams to fill key positions. She also helped relaunch the Super Council.
