The Vinoy® Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club Acquired by SCG Hospitality

Tampa, Fla. – SCG Hospitality, LLC is pleased to announce its acquisition of the historic 362-room Vinoy® Renaissance Resort & Golf Club in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, a venerable resort hotel located on the Tampa Bay waterfront, along with an adjacent marina and an 18-hole golf course.

Bryan Glazer, the principal behind SCG Hospitality, commented, “The Vinoy is a crown jewel for the City of St. Petersburg and the entire Tampa Bay area. I look forward to the Vinoy being just as iconic on its upcoming 100th anniversary as the day it opened in 1925.” Glazer is co-chairman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League.

SCG Hospitality has engaged The Plasencia Group, a hospitality investment advisory firm headquartered in Tampa, to provide owner representation and development management services commencing immediately. “We are genuinely excited to work alongside Bryan on The Vinoy,” said Lou Plasencia, Chief Executive Officer of The Plasencia Group. “St. Petersburg is an alluring lodging investment market and The Vinoy’s ideal downtown waterfront location near so many walkable amenities makes it one of the most recognizable resorts in all of Florida. Guests can walk from the historic property to The Museum of Fine Arts, The Dalí Museum, The James Museum and The Chihuly Collection, as well as a variety of restaurants and shops along Beach Drive and Central Avenue.” Plasencia added, “With its tremendous charm and character, The Vinoy is a destination unto itself. SCG Hospitality will be looking towards thoughtful enhancements to improve the The Vinoy and its amenities that will only serve to elevate the resort’s excellent reputation among its guests and local residents.”

The Vinoy consistently ranks among the top resorts in Florida by visitors and travel publications such as U.S. News and Condé Nast Traveler. The resort encompasses the historic hotel building, a second adjacent guest room tower, nearly 60,000 square feet of versatile meeting space, an 18-hole golf course and tennis club and a 74-slip marina. The property will continue to be managed under a long-term agreement with Marriott.

The Plasencia Group has successfully completed investment advisory and consulting engagements for more than 100 hotel and resort assets in Florida since it was founded in 1993.
