› Siesta Key hotel developers convinced Sarasota County planners to reverse key island policy
Siesta Key has for decades avoided the high-rise condos and towering hotels that line the shores of many popular coastal Florida destinations. That postcard, laid-back beach town charm is why many residents say the beach community is so sought after and admired. But high-rise hotel and condo developers didn't pass by Siesta Key because they didn't want to be there.

› Universal Orlando kicks off work on Monsters Cafe replacement
Universal Orlando Resort is revamping one of its theme park restaurants with a look rumored to be inspired by the popular "Despicable Me" film series. The theme park giant filed for a permit with the state for Project 210, which unofficial theme park news websites believe will replace the Monsters Cafe restaurant in Universal Studios Florida thatclosed in May.

› Two years after launching plans, The Hub Brooklyn taking shape
The Hub Brooklyn is preparing to take shape about two years after the Jacksonville Downtown Development Review Board approved the final design 6-0 at its Oct. 8, 2020, meeting. The city is reviewing permits for three shell buildings at 400 Riverside Ave. at an estimated construction cost of almost $2.5 million. Danis Construction LLC is the contractor.

› Property values in Brevard County grew to highest levels since the '90s
Brevard County has registered one of its biggest increases in property values in recent years, as well as the most new construction since 2007, helping to keep property tax rates in check. Brevard County Property Appraiser's Office data shows that property in Brevard is valued at $106.77 billion this year, up 28.45% from 2021 — the biggest percentage increase since at least the early-1990s.
