› Spirit Airlines pilots reach tentative contract, union says
Pilots at discount carrier Spirit Airlines of Miramar have reached a tentative contract deal that would give them significant financial gains over the next two years, their union announced Friday. The deal, which was confirmed by a company spokeswoman, apparently would be effective through the time the carrier is acquired by JetBlue Airways, which has agreed to buy Spirit for $3.8 billion. The takeover requires U.S. Government regulatory approval.

› South Florida-based moving companies sued by state, accused of deceptive practices
A network of South Florida-based moving companies has been targeted for shutdown in a civil complaint filed Thursday by state Attorney General Ashley Moody. The complaint against Lauderhill-based Gold Standard Moving and Storage, three individuals and multiple companies operating under various names was filed in Broward County Circuit Court. It alleges a pattern of deceit familiar to untold numbers of customers who have been victimized in recent years by brokers misrepresenting themselves as moving companies.

› Tampa Electric to build and move to new HQ building
Tampa Electric is moving out of its downtown headquarters and into a to-be built 17-story office building in the Midtown Tampa development. Construction on the new building, which according to a company spokeswoman will cost between $230 million and $250 million, is set to begin early next year, and the company expects to move more than 900 employees into the new space in 2025. Tampa Electric will own 11 stories of the tower which will be called Midtown East.

› Printed Patio, Florida Oceanographic Society join forces to create man-made reef
Florida’s coral reefs have been in trouble in recent years. The Department of Environmental Protection said warmer ocean temperatures and water pollution have led to more frequent coral bleaching events and disease. While some organizations are trying to grow their own natural coral, a Treasure Coast business has paired up with a well-known steward of the environment to see if their man-made reef solution can help.
