› A new Miami connection to Europe? State-owned airline plans direct flights.
A new airline service could give South Florida easier access to Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and even provide another way to get to Israel. Air Serbia, expected to obtain two new long-haul aircrafts this spring, is eyeing Miami International Airport for its next U.S. nonstop destination from Belgrade.
› Sarasota's newest luxury event space, The Ora, nearly completed
A new event space, The Ora, is opening on the campus of the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee and will soon offer a state-of-the-art luxury venue for Sarasota’s many special events and celebrations. Featuring a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, The Ora is among the largest event spaces in the region. It was envisioned by the organization’s board of directors, who felt the region lacked a versatile and luxurious space.

In 2004, Jacksonville entered the cruise business when Carnival Cruise Line brought its 1,452-passenger Carnival Holiday ship to the city for excursions to the Bahamas. Twenty years later, a new cruise line is set to sail from Jacksonville, offering seasonal service to the Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean.
› Broward takes next steps toward advancing train bridge idea in Fort Lauderdale
The Broward County Commission has given permission to start up to $2 million of work with engineering companies on designs for an eventual new train bridge over Fort Lauderdale’s New River. It is a “critical next step” that would allow for the creation of “conceptual designs for a low- to mid-level bridge,” which would accommodate both a commuter rail system and marine traffic on the New River, county commissioners say.
